Recent Activities

The Department of Nursing Administration and Nursing Data Science held its year-end party. It was a wonderful occasion as faculty members, administrative staff, academic support specialists, and a graduate student all gathered for the first time to share a meal. Recharged by this time together, we look forward to another productive year of research, education, and collaborative work.

All of our lab members recently participated in the 29th Annual Conference of the Japan Academy of Nursing Administration and Policies, which was held in Sapporo.

It was a valuable opportunity to exchange information on the current issues and practices in the field, as well as the latest research.

UTokyo Nursing International Conference 2025, hosted by the Global Nursing Research Center, was held on August 6 at the University of Tokyo’s Hongo Campus. A poster presentation was given on a research project led by the Department of Nursing Data Science, in which our lab also participated.

We were honored to welcome Professor Lusine Poghosyan from Columbia University, USA, to our laboratory.

During her visit, we had the opportunity to introduce our respective research and engage in fruitful discussions. Given the close alignment of our research fields, this visit provided an excellent opportunity for future collaborations.

We had the pleasure of hosting Professor Sung-Hyun Cho from Seoul National University, South Korea, at our laboratory.

Professor Cho presented her research on nurse staffing, and our faculty members specializing in nursing administration also introduced their respective studies, including research on real-world data and nursing career development.

It was a highly stimulating experience to exchange information about the nursing situations and systems in both our countries.

The opening symposium of the Department of Nursing Data Science, with which our department collaborates as a partner course, was held on April 15. We were pleased to welcome many participants, reflecting the high level of interest in data science.”

To welcome the new graduate student who joined the Department of Nursing Administration in April, faculty members and students from both the Department of Nursing Administration and Social cooperation programs gathered for a relaxed evening of food, drinks, and conversation. It was a wonderful opportunity to deepen our connections in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

With the start of April, a new master’s student has joined the Department of Nursing Administration, and a new administrative staff member has joined the Department of Nursing Data Science. Faculty members, graduate students, and administrative staff from both the Department of Nursing Administration and the Department of Nursing Data Science enjoyed lunch together.

The Spring International Program, hosted by the Global Nursing Research Center, was held from March 10 to 13. Graduate students from both Japan and abroad participated in our department’s activities. It was an excellent opportunity to discuss healthcare, nursing, and research in different countries.

On February 13–14, Professor Ikeda delivered a speech at the opening ceremony and gave a lecture at a workshop during the 15th International Nursing Conference & 28th East Asian Forum of Nursing Scholars held in South Korea. Assistant Professor Inoue also gave an oral presentation.

Members of the Nursing Administration field and the Social cooperation programs, Nursing Data Science Course, along with Prof. Nakagami, who made significant contributions to establishing the Nursing Data Science Course, gathered for a New Year’s celebration. With multiple milestones to celebrate, it was a lively and festive event.

On January 1, 2025, the University of Tokyo and the Japanese Nursing Association launched the Social Cooperation Program “Nursing Data Science Program.” This program is dedicated to research that promotes evidence-based nursing policy making. Our department (Nursing Administration / Advanced Clinical Nursing) will collaborate as a partner program.

S期の打ち上げと、春から一緒に研究に取り組んでいたキタ先生の留学を応援する壮行会を兼ねて、研究メンバーで食事会をしました。

教室の事務員さんの歓迎会を兼ねて、大学近くのフレンチでランチ会をしました。お料理とともに会話も弾み、お互いをより知る機会になりました。

大学キャンパス内の郷土料理屋の食事を囲みながら、和気あいあいと交流を深めました。スタッフ一丸となって、研究や教育に活発に取り組んでいきたいと思います。
